Rayed Alwajeeh is currently a Research Associate at the Center of Complex Engineering Systems (CCES) at KACST and MIT. Rayed graduated from King Abdul-Aziz University (KAU) with a B.Sc in electronics and communication Engineering. He then received a Master of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (MSECE) from Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). His primary areas of study are Automatic Control, Robotics, and Systems. Before joining the master program, Rayed worked as a Telecom engineer at Saudi Ericsson Company in Saudi Arabia.
Since joining CCES, he has been working on the Integrated Energy Decision Support System (IEDSS) project. At CCES, Rayed’s work includes developing a system dynamic model for the power system in Saudi Arabia using Vensim and Anylogic software.
Rayed research interests are wide-ranging among different topics in energy including: analysis, monitoring, design, simulation and visualization of the power system. He is also interested in optimization of transmission and distribution networks (multi-objective optimization); Improving power grid utilization, smart grid computation and grid connection of renewable energy sources.
