Fahad Alhasoun is currently a Research Specialist at the Center of Complex Engineering Systems (CCES) at KACST and MIT. He was the valedictorian when he graduated  from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Saudi Arabia with a degree in Computer Science. Before joining CCES, Fahad worked as a network operations engineer at the Integrated Telecom Company in Saudi Arabia. Since joining CCES, he has been working on the Urban Traffic System (UTS) project.

Fahad’s research interests are in networks analysis, big data analytics, modeling and simulation and algorithms design. At CCES, Fahad’s work includes investigating approaches to analyze large data sets of mobile phone location traces from the GSM network to better understand the patterns of interaction between the social structure and transportation infrastructure in Riyadh. His work at KFUPM included an implementation of Fingerprint Image Compression Using WSQ Algorithm IAFIS-IC-0110(V3). He also worked on reducing the complexity of the Baby-Step Giant-Step Algorithm searching for a solution to the discrete log problem. Fahad’s work has been published in peer reviewed conferences and journals both locally and internationally.
