Anthony Vanky is a project director and researcher at the MIT Senseable City Lab, and a PhD student in Urban Studies and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At the Senseable City Lab, Anthony is affiliated with the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and technology surveying citizen perspectives on real-time information, and in the potential planning implications of large urban and regional-scale datasets on planning with the Center for Complex Engineering Systems (CCES). Anthony holds prior degrees from the MIT (S.M.) and Tulane University (B.Arch, M.Arch). Trained as an urban designer and architect, he has worked on projects across the United States, and his design work  and involvement has been exhibited widely, including at the Venice Architectural Biennale, the Dutch Design Week, Gwangju Design Biennale, and New Orleans DesCours.



Anthony has been invited to present on issues of design, technology and urbanism, including at Harvard University, Skanska Worldwide Research & Development, the World Summit on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and the New York Center for Architecture. He has also been published in both academic and popular publications, including as a contributor to Metropolis Magazine and the American Institute of Architects.

Beyond his research and design endeavors, Anthony is an active leader in the architectural profession. He previously served on the national Boards of Directors for three of the five governing organizations for the profession of architecture in the United States: the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, the National Architectural Accrediting Board, and the American Institute of Architecture Students as its national Vice President. He has also been appointed to national committees for all five governing organizations, including the American Institute of Architects, and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
