Ahmad AlAbdulkareem is currently a Research Associate at the Center for Complex Engineering Systems (CCES) at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He graduated at the top of his class in 2010 from KSU with a BSc in Computer Science and his graduation project “Bmail: Brain Controlled Email Client” won several awards. In 2012 Ahmad continued to receive a Master’s of Science with honors from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in computer science in both High Performance Computing (HPC) and Computer Systems.



During his study at KAUST, he was a researcher in the Structural and Functional Bioinformatics Group working on enhancing classification algorithms (specifically Support Vector Machines).



Since joining CCES, Ahmad has been working on several projects. First he started as a mathematical modeler for the Sustainable Infrastructure Planning Systems (SIPS) project. In addition, he worked on the data management and software engineering as well as the integration of SIPS. Second, Ahmad is working on the Cyber Security Initiative (CSI) project, focusing on issues related to personal data privacy as well as working on intrusion detection systems using simulation tools.

Ahmad’s interests include Complex modeling and simulation, Computer Security, Machine Learning, Graph Theory, Game Theory, Information Retrieval, Data Management, Data Mining, Big Data, and Personal Data Privacy.
